God, Family, and Music is what I love. I am the proud son of a preacher man and learned to play in church. I began by playing drums, at age 12, in my family's small church in Kokomo, Indiana. My mom, and sister would sing and my brother and I would play drums and sing. I would listen to my mom play the 12 string acoustic at home and in church, and to this day that music is still the biggest musical influence in my life. I myself began playing guitar at the age of 16 and from there on out was all I wanted to do. I moved to Nashville in 1998 and began to chase down my dreams and become the starving musician. Now, 11 years later, I am blessed enough to make a living doing what I love, playing guitar. I recently have been working harder on my song writing and have had a few independent cuts. I hope it continues to roll in the right direction.

My years on the road I’ve had the honor to play for artists like: Jimmy Wayne, Kellie Pickler, James Otto, Tracy Byrd, Craig Morgan, Billy Currington, Jimmy Fortune, Kevin Denney, Bobby Pinson and last year, Tanya Tucker. I have also filled in with Aaron Tippin, Daryle Singletary, Rhett Atkins, and many more…

Thankfully, these days I am home 99% of the time doing studio work and starting do some producing projects. So, with those new ventures I’m finally weaning myself from the road, completely!! Yay!! Now, I’ve been playing on some of the artist records that I use to play with on the road.

"KJL Rocks Iraq”

"To the amp world - lately a lot of people have been adopting the name 'Category 5' for a lot of things. In the wake of Katrina I understand that. Rest assured that, as a personal survivor of Katrina, this name came to me in the months immediately following the storm and was not influenced by anyone else who may be using the name. My legal consults have suggested it would be very difficult to trademark something already in use for years by weather stations all over the nation and have it stick (like trying to trademark "exit signs"). From a philosophical viewpoint, having had my apartment in MISS blown to "Kingdom Come", losing my workshop in New Orleans, and watching dozens of friends and family lose everything they've owned, there's kind of an unofficial "I deserve to use this name" feeling even though everyone has that right. But on that note, even though we all wish we were the only amp company in the business, I would not wish any of our Katrina experiences on any of our competitors. To everyone making sound out there . . . Keep on Rockin' . . . There's enough to go around.

Sincerely,
KJL

"KJL rocks the 'Rocklahoma' show on July 13, 2008 with Zebra.
The 170 watt Kat 5 can drive all four cabinets in parallel (2 ohms)
so you don't have to buy another head and slave the two together.
The outputs are 2 and 4 ohms."
