KJL is proud to welcome Mississippi Blues and Funk Man Caleb Armstrong. Caleb plays with Grady Champion (www.gradychampion.com) who last year won the International Blues Challenge (held in Memphis - 39 States and 13 Countries from around the Globe, 110 Bands Competing) beating out bluesman from around the world. Caleb and Grady will be touring in 2010 playing over 20 festivals booked directly as a result of the Blues Challenge win. But Caleb’s musical experience dates all the way back to the 70’s where he got his start playing gospel with his father. In 1975, he co-founded and was a principal song-writer for Freedom who released several albums on Malaco records and was a touring mainstay with the likes of the Bar Kays, Con Funk Shun, Cameo, SOS Band, Graham Central Station, and Lakeside. Other artists have noticed Freedom and took Caleb’s songwriting to the top 40. It’s a privilege that after all these years in the biz, Caleb chooses KJL to help deliver the blues on stage.

Shawn Paddock

KJL is proud to welcome New Orleans Rocker Shawn
Paddock. Along with recording for CBS records (see bio below), Shawn was
also manager for the House of Blues in New Orleans and Chicago. During this
tenure he heard every piece of gear under the sun come across the HOB stage.
Shawn brings decades of playing and music business experience to the KJL
family. |
"To the amp world - lately a lot of people have been adopting the name 'Category 5' for a lot of things. In the wake of Katrina I understand that. Rest assured that, as a personal survivor of Katrina, this name came to me in the months immediately following the storm and was not influenced by anyone else who may be using the name. My legal consults have suggested it would be very difficult to trademark something already in use for years by weather stations all over the nation and have it stick (like trying to trademark "exit signs"). From a philosophical viewpoint, having had my apartment in MISS blown to "Kingdom Come", losing my workshop in New Orleans, and watching dozens of friends and family lose everything they've owned, there's kind of an unofficial "I deserve to use this name" feeling even though everyone has that right. But on that note, even though we all wish we were the only amp company in the business, I would not wish any of our Katrina experiences on any of our competitors. To everyone making sound out there . . . Keep on Rockin' . . . There's enough to go around. Sincerely,
|

"KJL rocks the 'Rocklahoma' show on July 13, 2008 with Zebra.
The 170 watt Kat 5 can drive all four cabinets in parallel (2 ohms)
so you don't have to buy another head and slave the two together.
The outputs are 2 and 4 ohms."
